Guy Venner
I'm Guy and I've taught with MKPA for 11 years. My first aid journey started with a loud bang on a street in Japan: I looked up to see a young woman in a crash helmet flying through the air, thinking to myself, 'I don't know what to do when she hits the road.'
She'd been knocked off her moped and thankfully walked away with cuts and bruises — but in that moment I knew I had to be ready next time. I went on to become a scuba diving instructor in Thailand, which brought with it first aid instructor training. Given the rather relaxed approach to health and safety over there, I soon found myself very busy indeed. I discovered I loved caring for people, sometimes during the worst moments of their lives, and when I returned to the UK to look after mum and dad, training others in first aid felt like a natural fit.
Along with my colleagues at MKPA, my goal is simple: to make sure every student leaves a course ready to act — whether that's at a motorcycle crash on the other side of the world or an incident closer to home.
Student Feedback:
"Guy was very informative - full of relatable knowledge and experience shared in a positive way throughout the two day course. Very professional".
"Learning made fun, Guy was the best teacher I have had".
"Guy is a really engaging, fun tutor who made the course very enjoyable. Thank you".

Jo-Anne Dean
Hi I’m Jo, I have been teaching first aid for MKPA since 2023.
I love to give people the confidence they need to help people. I pride myself on making my courses fun and a place to have lots of discussions. I enjoy learning from other's experiences. My courses are a place to ask those questions you don't think you can; there are definitely no stupid questions!
I enjoy furthering my knowledge by doing more advanced course such as first responders courses, giving me more knowledge to expand my training. I believe the day I stop learning is the day I die.
My personal life experiences with managing diabetes, SEND needs, asthma, epilepsy and mobility issues helps me to better understand my students struggles and some of the issues that they might encounter when administering first aid.
Student feedback:
"Jo was amazing. Her subject knowledge was outstanding. She created a fun and safe and engaging learning environment. Best training session I've ever been on".
"Been doing first aid for over twenty years and this has been the best by far. Jo's knowledge is shown with her passion for her work. Enjoyed the practical side".

Richard Rogers
I have been a trainer with the Milton Keynes Play Association for over 15 years now.
I have a clinical background, as a Paramedic with the London Ambulance Service and other emergency services throughout my working career. It has been a pleasure to be able to bring my clinical and training experience to help the Play Association.
Throughout my time with MKPA, I have met and trained some fantastic and dedicated members of staff from numerous schools and nurseries throughout the Milton Keynes area. Many bring so much experience and existing knowledge to the training room and we pride ourselves on creating a comfortable and welcoming learning environment for all.
It is nice to see so many repeat customers over the years and I think this is not only due to the quality of training we provide, but a reflection on MKPA in its entirety and the dedicated staff and services the Play Association provide.
Student feedback:
"This first aid course has been the only I heave learnt new things on. Very in depth and can now understand why people go into heart attack or a cardiac arrest. Best course I've done".
"Richard was a brilliant trainer and his past experience as a paramedic and police officer brought what we were learning to life. I've done numerous first aid training in the past but this was the best and the teens loved it. Highly recommended!".
"Have been a childminder for 15 years and always do my first aid training at MKPA, as do all my childminder colleagues. Highly recommend".
